“Venturing into production was an act of impulse,” says Srikanth, who is confident that more films will emerge from the stable of Golden Friday Films. On Nambiar , set for an August 19 release, Srikanth says, “There is a Nambiar in each of us, much like there is an MGR.”

Srikanth goes on to say that the movie is a sci-fi comedy, in which the chief challenge was in making the voice and the body language similar to Nambiar’s. “I would not like to reveal much on that, but it is something the audience would have never experienced.”

On venturing into production, Srikanth said it was in deference to the wishes of his co-star Santhanam. Srikanth says the offer came to him after Vijay Antony turned the film down for lack of dates. “Once I heard the script, I was convinced that Sunaina would be the apt choice for the Saroja (Devi) character. Santhanam saw a winner at hand and goaded me to take the plunge, viewing it as an ideal script to start my journey as a producer.”

Santhanam debuts as a singer in this film with ‘Aara Amara’ . “ Impressed with the script, Vijay Antony agreed to compose music for the film. My wife Vandana debuts as costume designer. In every sense, Nambiar will be a tribute to the legendary villain of Tamil cinema.”
