Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, 93, who was admitted to Lilavati Hospital last week for high fever and respiratory problems, was discharged at around 12.05 pm on Thursday.
An entire contingent of media crew and his fans had gathered at the hospital's entrance to catch a glimpse of the star who was wheeled out post noon. Doctors had planned to discharge him on Wednesday but eventually decided to wait until morning.
Onlookers said the star looked well in a pale pink shirt. He was accompanied by his wife/actor Saira Banu. The actor was wheeled into a waiting car.
The 93-year-old actor, who is known for his subtle acting in films such as Madhumati, Devdas, Kohinoor, Mughal-e-Azam in which he played lead roles and later for his strong character roles in films such as Shakti, Karma and Saudagar, was discharged after his test reports came out to be fine.
His doctor, Dr. Jalil Parkar, had told the media on Wednesday that the actor was doing well. "His reports are normal. We have decided to discharge him tomorrow morning as opposed to today keeping in mind the patient's comfort," Dr. Parkar said.
