Actor Aadhi still laughs thinking of the day he watched the Telugu Venkatadri Express at Casino Theatre. “It was such a riot. Things moved at such a rapid pace on screen, you were laughing all the time,” he says.

Now, the actor is all set to play the lead in the Tamil remake of the film. His production company, Adharsha Chitralaya, has bought the remake and dubbing rights for the film that starred Sundeep Kishan and Rakul Preet Singh.

The remaining cast and crew of the film are being finalised. “We are looking at some names, and I will be able to share the final list soon,” he says.

Aadhi has made a name for himself as a “serious” actor, and he hopes to shrug off that tag with this film, which is full of situational comedy. “We have taken the basic plot from the Telugu film, but we will rework it to suit the Tamil milieu,” he says. The colour and glamour quotient will come down, he adds. The team hopes to set right the few glitches in the Telugu version, to come up with a tighter script.

The actor has wrapped up work on home production Yagavarayinum Naa Kaaka , directed by his brother Sathya Prabhas Pinisetty. Nikki Galrani plays the female lead, and Mithun Chakraborty plays a vital role.

Its taut trailer was much spoken about and has garnered about 1.5 lakh hits on YouTube. “We are in post-production now and the music should soon be out,” he says. The film, based on a real incident, is at its core, a thriller, but there is a lot more to it, he says.

The Venkatadri Express remake will be a quickie, says Aadhi. He will then take up work on other scripts.

“I’ll soon announce my next project.”
