His biopic, Ramanujan , has hit screens just yesterday, and the first look of Abhinay’s next Tamil film is already out. We’re talking about Michaelagiya Naan ( MAN ), which will see the actor in a role starkly different from his first.
“They’re as different as chalk and cheese,” says the film’s director Aar K, “If Ramanujan was a Hindu, a vegetarian, and a genius living in different times, my protagonist, is city-bred, Christian and very modern in his thoughts. When I watched Ramanujan a few days ago, it was hard to believe that Abhinay was actually the hero in my film too!”
MAN , post-production on which is happening currently, is touted to be a thriller. “It’s a physiological edge-of-the-seat subject,” reveals the filmmaker, “But it also has a supernatural touch in the end. We’re relying on the events that unfold in the climax to shock the audience.” While Vasundhara Kashyap (of Poraali fame) plays the female lead, Bengali actress Mallvi (Malobika Bannerjee) debuts in Kollywood with this film.
