Director A. R. Murugadoss, in association with Fox Star Studios, is coming up with his maiden production venture “Engeyum Eppodhum”. In the run up to the film's release next week, an event was held at Prasad Studios which was attended by the lead stars.

Speaking on the occasion, director Murugadoss said he was sure of the success of the film. “Numerous accidents take place every day and newspapers are full of such reports. It's depressing to read about them. A small accident changes the life of not just the person concerned, but his entire family as well. If only we are cautious, accidents can be averted. This is the basis of the story and I feel director Saravanan, who was working with me, has done a wonderful job. Director Thirupathisamy died in an accident. When Saravanan narrated the storyline to me, I couldn't help thinking about Thirupathisamy. I was among the few who were with him till midnight, and the accident took place just hours after that. Director Saravanan has successfully captured on screen the agony the family members and friends of the victim go through in such a situation. Besides, the film has romance thrown in good measure.”

Written and directed by Saravanan, the film has Jai, Sarvananth, Anjali and Ananya in the lead. While Velraj has handled the camera, C. Sathya has scored the music.

Saravanan said, “The film is an enjoyable love story with a message. There is no negative character in the film — just a situation in the screenplay which could be called the villain. The climax is gripping.”

Four songs were screened for the press and all were good.

Anjali, one of the heroines, said that she would have acted in a number of films, but this one was special to her. “After discussing the storyline with the director, I was returning in my car. At one turning, I saw a bus in the opposite direction. The impact of the accident in the screenplay was such that I thought I was going to be hit by the bus. Luckily, that was not to be. If only everyone uses the road with a little care, there won't be any accident. In the film, Jai and I complement each other very well.”

Jai said, “‘Engeyum Eppodum' is a must-watch film — people from all walks of life should see it. It has entertainment coupled with a message. I am happy to have worked in it and I should thank Murugadoss for it.”

Sarvananth said Saravanan's script was the highlight of the film. “The script was honest and has positive energy.”

Music director Sathya was happy that his songs have become hits. Sriram Krishnan, chief financial officer, Fox Star Studios, was also present on the occasion.
