The MetroPlus Theatre Festival is aimed at bringing the best of theatre to the Chennai audience, both from within the country and from abroad.
The Festival will run for eleven days with a packed schedule of nine public performances of nine different plays, and workshops to encourage youngsters to learn and participate, as well as interact with theatre professionals.
The plays will be staged at the Music Academy and the workshops will be held at the British Council.
The event will feature nine plays: three by groups in Chennai; five by groups from other parts of the country like Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi; and one by a group from Singapore.
All the Chennai theatre groups will stage only new plays at the festival. Theatre groups from outside Chennai will stage only plays that have not been performed earlier in Chennai.
All plays will start at 7.15 pm. Plays will last between 90 and 120 minutes, including an interval. Tickets are priced at Rs 500 (sponsor tickets only), Rs. 250, Rs.150, and Rs.100. Students can enjoy a 50 per cent discount on Rs. 100 tickets, available only at the venue on the show dates. Season passes are available for Rs. 3000 and Rs. 1500.
