After election rout, it's back to reel life for 'Captain'

After suffering a major loss in his political career, DMDK chief Vijaykant on Friday tweeted some sobering news — at least for fans who clamour his on-screen avatar: he has resumed shooting for his next flick, Tamizhan Endru Sol ('Say you are a Tamilian').

Reported to be directed by first-timer Arun Ponnambalam, with music by the music-composer duo HipHop Tamizha the film marks the return of 'Captain' in a full-fledged role after a full six years. His previous appearance was a cameo in Sagaaptham , released in 2015, which was the debut film of his son Shanmuga Pandian (who also stars in the upcoming movie).

The 63-year-old Vijaykant got back on the microblogging site a day after the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections results were declared. His party was part of a 'third-front' coalition that projected him as the chief-ministerial candidate. He ended up losing from Ulundurpet by finishing at the distant third place.

'Captain' however seems to be sporting a 'youthful' look as seen from some film stills — rimless glasses on and reading essential Tamil classical literature such as the Puranaanooru . He is also seen posing beside a curious clock which has numerals in Tamil.

Tamizhan Enru Sol would be Vijayakanth's 155th film.
