Veteran actor Dharmendra on Thursday underwent an endoscopic procedure at Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai following a complaint of abdominal pain.

Hospital sources said the 79-year-old actor was admitted on Wednesday night. Doctors found his haemoglobin count low and he underwent an endoscopic procedure following suspicion of intestinal bleeding. He has been admitted under the care of gastrointestinal surgeon Dr Sharad Shah, and his condition was described as stable.

Earlier in the day, Dr Sanjay Desai, orthopaedic specialist at Breach Candy Hospital, had been quoted by a news agency saying that the actor was admitted after a complaint of general weakness and shoulder pain.

“He is fine. There is nothing to worry. He is here for overall health check up as well,” Dr. Desai told PTI.

He added the actor would undergo x-ray and MRI tests.
