Did you miss me? Did you miss me?
The dead Moriarty’s echoing voice creeped us out at the end of the last season - and the creepiness hasn’t gone away one bit even a year-and-a-half later!
The show runners of BBC’s Sherlock gave us the teaser trailer for Season 4 of the hit adaptation on Sunday. If you haven’t managed to catch it yet, no worries. We’ve broken down the main points for you.
Hopefully, this makes the long wait to January 2017 seem more bearable. (Admit it! The Abominable Bride just wasn’t enough.)
Something’s coming, says Sherlock, holding his now-famous steepled-fingers pose. “Maybe it’s Moriarty. Maybe it’s not,” he says.
And then we see a hunched figure – possibly of John, sitting in front of a hospital bed. The teaser cuts to a scene with Sherlock in his iconic coat in front of a pool, possibly the pool where the confrontation with Moriarty took place back in season 1. Maybe Sherlock’s retracing Moriarty’s steps? Hmmm.
We get flashes of images: heavily armed men running towards a door, Sherlock thinking, a lone figure flashing a torchlight in pouring rain in the middle of several gnarled trees, and Mycroft and then John asking “Enlighten me.”
There’s a woman with her head covered (Mary?) brandishing a gun, several choppers, and masked men (soldiers?) descending from the ceiling to shoot at what looks like an empty room with a table and chairs.
We get a glimpse of Toby Jones who plays the villain in the second episode of the series and an unkempt Sherlock and John in a cab.
More choppers, more armed men running, Molly yelling, “It’s not a game!” and Jones’ character laughing like he’s lost his mind.
There are a lot of explosions, guns going off - and yes, that’s Mary with her head covered - cars being blown up, and Mrs. Hudson asking Mycroft to, ahem, politely get out of her house.
Just what have you done, Mikey?
There are a lot of pensive moments with John, Sherlock, and Mycroft, but in between all of that, we get a half-a-second glimpse of a head and a torso clad in a suit. A head that looks suspiciously like Moriarty.
Moriarty is back! Or is he?
The entire minute-and-a half teaser packs in a lot, so it looks like the season won’t be lacking in action. Hopefully, it brings back the sharp and mean Sherlock of Season 1 as opposed to how haywire he seemed to have gone in Season 3. But we suppose infiltrating a criminal network does that to you.
Cannot wait!
