“Leviathan” bags Golden Peacock

Russian film “Leviathan” by Andrey Zvyagintsev won the best film award comprising of the Golden Peacock and Rs. 40 lakh at the 45th International Film Festival of India(IFFI) which ended here on Sunday.

Actor Alexey Serebryakov of “Leviathan” won the best male actor award in the ‘Cinema of the World’ competition section atthe IFFI . He shared the Rs.10 lakh award with actor Dulal Sarkar of Bengali film “Chotoder Chobi” (A Short Story).

The best director award of Rs. 15 lakhs was bagged by Nadav Lapid, the director of the Israeli film “Haganenet” (The Kindergarten Teacher). Actress Sarit Larry of “Haganenet” received the best female actor award of Rs. 10 lakh along with Alina Cruz of the Cuban film “Conducta” (Behaviour).

The Jury Award of Rs. 15 lakh was bagged by the Marathi Film “Ek Hazarachi Note” (A 100 Rupee Note) by Srihari Sathe.
