Ron and Hermione’s not-so-happily ever after

"I would expect Ron has probably divorced Hermione already. I don’t think that relationship would have done very well," says Rupert Grint.

You would think the fact that the series — both the books and the movies — has finished would have laid your favourite characters to rest.

Apparently not.

The love story of Rupert Grint’s Ron Weasley and Emma Watson’s Hermoine Granger in Harry Potter has a dedicated fan following but the actor feels their relationship was doomed and the couple would definitely have divorced.

The 27-year-old actor believes his and Emma Watson’s Harry Potter characters, who went from friends to a married couple by the end of the wizard saga, would not have enjoyed their own happily ever after, reported Huffington Post.

“I would expect Ron has probably divorced Hermione already. I don’t think that relationship would have done very well.”

Adding further thoughts on Ron’s depressing life, he added, “He’s living on his own, in a little one-bedroom apartment. He hasn’t got a job.”

Grint’s belief comes after Harry Potter author > J.K. Rowling admitted two years ago that Hermione should have been married off to Harry, and not Ron.

"For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron,” Rowling had earlier said in 2014. In fact, Ron and Hermione would likely have ended up in marriage counselling, Rowling had suggested.

"I know, I'm sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility.

"Am I breaking people's hearts by saying this? I hope not.”

Actor Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the films, agreed with Rowling, saying: "I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy."

Now all one has to do is wait for actor Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular character, chip in with his two cents about Ron and Hermione’s relationship and try not to cry ourselves to sleep.
