10:33 am: And the much-awaited Oscar for the Best Picture goes to Birdman. “Two Mexicans in a row? That’s suspicious” says director Inarritu in his acceptance speech. After flying aimlessly in superhero movies, Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton of Batman fame), a fading star, known for playing Birdman, a superhero with metaphysical powers, shifts stage for acceptance as real actor.

10: 19 am: Best Actor in a Leading Role bagged by Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything. This is the movie's frst oscar. The film tracks the life of celebrated scientist Stephen Hawking and his better half Jane.

10:10 am: Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu wins Best Director title for Birdman. This is the movie's third Oscar. Alejandro G. Iñárritu reveals that he’s wearing Michael Keaton’s underpants in his acceptance speech.

10:03 am: Best Adapted Screenplay oscar is bagged by Graham Moore for 'The Imitation Game'. Screenwriter Graham Moore used his speech time to say: “When I was 16 years, I tried to kill myself. And now I am standing, for that kid out there, who thinks she’s weird or she’s different.”

10:01 am: Oscar Tally: The Grand Budapest Hotel is ahead with four Oscars followed by Whiplash with three; Birdman has bagged two till now.

10: 00am: Birdman bags the Best Original Screenplay Oscar. This is the movie's second Oscar.

9:45 am: Alexandre Desplat wins Best original score oscar for 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'. Desplat was nominated in the same category for both Imitation Game and The Grand Budapest Hotel. This is the movie's fourth oscar.

9:35 am: Lady Gaga croons the very famous 'The Hills are alive' from 1965 classic The Sound of Music starring Chritopher Plummer and Julie Andrews. The movie bagged five oscars.

9:18 am: Documentary Feature Oscar goes to 'CitizenFour' by Laura Poitras, Mathilde Bonnefoy and Dirk Wilutzky. The movie on Edward Snowden received critical acclaim post release.

9:15 am: Whiplash and The Grand Budapest Hotel are on par with three Oscars each

9:10 am: The Oscar for Achievement in Film Editing goes to Tom Cross for Whiplash. This is Tom Cross' first Oscar. This is the movie's third oscar.

7:55 am:Best live-action short film bagged by The Phone Call – Mat Kirkby, James Lucas

7:52 am: Adam Levine performs huge concerts with his band, Maroon 5, and appears weekly on “The Voice.” But performing at the Academy Awards well, that’s a whole other experience. “Expletive!” Was the first one, followed by “God!” and then “bllllggggrh.” With that, he dashed off to the green room.

7:44 am: Ida wins in the Best Foreign language film category . The win marks the first foreign language Oscar for Poland despite nine previous nominations and a rich history of filmmaking, including by renowned directors like Andrzej Wajda and Roman Polanski. But the tautly made “Ida,” a period film that plunges into a dark chapter of Polish history of German occupation during World War II, emerged as one of the critical hits of 2014. Pawel Pawlikowski’s film also was nominated for its cinematography.

7:40 am: “The Grand Budapest Hotel” bags Makeup and hairstyling Oscar

7:40 am: “I’m just going to play dark, complex characters from now on, even in comedies. They’re not going to be funny, they’re just going to be dark and complex” actor Steve Carell, who’s known for comedy but was nominated for best actor in “Foxcatcher,” a drama.

7: 10 am: JK Simmons wins best supporting actor Oscar for his role in “Whiplash”. Simmons plays a cruel jazz band instructor who berates and humiliates his students, including Miles Teller, who co—stars as an aspiring jazz drummer in Damien Chazelle’s film. It was the first Oscar nomination for Simmons, 60, a longtime character actor. He also won the Golden Globe in January.
