On June 21, World Music Day was celebrated across ten venues in Hyderabad. Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad played host to a musical evening that witnessed a house full of audience enjoy renditions by a line of artistes presenting a wide range of musical genres.
Western gospel music was represented by 4 HIM, a vocal band that consists of Koshy Thomas (Vocalist on Soprano), Vipin Jacob (Alto, Guitarist), Lacitha Vipin (Vocalist on Soprano) Ben Rajan (Tenor, Guitarist) and Avish John Thomas (Bass Vocalist).
Carnatic music was presented by Sunadam group that consists of 6 young girls — Kamala Manohari, Sri Lalitha Sharanya, Shriya Vaishnavi, Anagha Purushothaman, Srijanya Srinivasan, Srijita Srinivasa — all trained Carnatic musicians in both violin and vocals.
Hindustani music was rendered by young musicians Rashmika on sitar and Mohit on the tabla.
Rock music was rendered by Top Guns group that comprises rock enthusiasts and a unique mix of children and adult musicians. The members are: Arnav K (Percussion) Arun Dhiman (Lead Guitarist), Abhinav Singhel (Bass guitar) and Rajdeep G (Lead Vocalist)
Pop classics as instrumentals, Jazz Standards was played by the group calling itself George & Friends comprising George Hull (Saxophone), Vijay Kumar (Guitar and Vocals), Gokul Sriram (Guitar), Johannah & Natalie Hull (Vocals)
While fusion music was Turning Point’s focus on Guitar, Vocal and Drums, VMC Haze rendered Blues and Indian classical music.
Jazz blues & Indian fusion was played by Anupam Kunapuli. Anupan lost his vision at the age of eight due to a condition called retina pegmentoza and has since taken to music and is now a skilled pianist. His styles are jazz, blues, rock, pop and Indian fusion. Danny accompanied him on percussions.
Hindustani artiste Tarun Raghavendra and VMC Haze with Blues and Indian classical were also on the lineup.
