There's only one band in Bengaluru you can trust with your deepest, darkest secrets. Their name says it all. The city-based electro-pop, rock and funk band Best Kept Secret say your secrets are safe with them and promise to tell no one other than hint at it in their trippy songs.

Playing at High Ultra Lounge this weekend, the band claims to be the only true pop act in the city with a pop-loaded gig full of original hits for the city’s music lovers.

Frontman, vocalist, bassist and songwriter Behram Siganporia is thrilled to be playing at High on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of The Sheraton Grand Hotel. “The gigs there are really special. We've always had sold out crowds and a great vibe at the venue. This time, we bring a brand new set list where we debut a couple of never-before heard songs. We’ve also taken some recently released songs and given it our signature twist. It's very rare that we play that side of town so we hope it's a new experience for everyone.”

Joining him on stage will be Hemanth Diwakaran on guitars, Abhilash E K on drums and Steve Rajan on keyboards.

He wittily one-lines the biggest takeaway for the audience: “You are going to be 30 floors high up in the air. We hope to take you a little higher with our music!”

The driving force for the band is the crowd, Behram points out. “Although we inspire and motivate one another in the band, when we're on stage, our biggest motivation is the audience.”

The band is fresh from a month-long hiatus where they worked on new original music. “We're back after writing new material and are excited about the coming months because we’ll be playing our first ever gig in Germany in July as well as touring a couple of other countries. It's a very exciting phase for us.”

Known for writing songs about relationships, do they consider themselves a serious band or a fun band? Behram replies: “As people we’re fun, but we take our music seriously. We're 100 per cent professional about everything we do. But once we’re on stage, we have fun and make sure everyone else does too.”

Every band has a way of expressing itself, he affirms. “There are some bands who perform expecting complete silence from the audience while others love to have the crowd join them, dance with them and sing along. We’re the latter. We are an all-out party band.” Behram adds that the greatest joy for them is when people chorus their songs with them. “It’s extremely satisfying to hear them sing, especially songs that are relatively new. That means a lot to us. We're blessed to have those kind of fans.”

With a new EP in the offing, Behram reveals that it should be coming out in the next couple of months. “It will be, of course, based on different stages of relationships, which is ideally what I write about a lot. It will be a little different from what people generally hear from us. The sound will be a little more mellow, less electronic and lot more organic.”
