The Sunburn Arena concert featuring artist David Guetta, which had to be cancelled on Friday, has been rescheduled and will now be held on Sunday, with the Mumbai police granting permission for the event.

The event, which was earlier scheduled to be held at the Reliance Jio gardens in the Bandra Kurla Complex on Friday night, had to be called off as the organisers had failed to secure necessary permissions from the concerned authorities. The organisers had since then been in talks with the Mumbai Police as well as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the Fire Brigade so that the event could be held at the earliest.

Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP Ashok Dudhe said, “We are issuing permission to hold the event at the same venue in BKC.”

Police officials are currently discussing the security and traffic management measures undertaken by the organisers, and deployment of bandobast will be decided accordingly by Saturday evening, said sources.

The police will have a tough day to look forward to on Sunday, with the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon in the morning and the Sunburn Arena in the evening. Both the events will witness heavy footfalls and attendance by foreign nationals, and the police will have to deploy a large number of personnel to ensure that both the events pass off without any law and order problems. The police are likely to call in reinforcements from forces like the State Reserve Police Force if needed, and a decision in this regard will be taken by Saturday evening, said officials.
