There’s something about Manhattan. The bustling roads with too many people on the move. The food from almost every corner of the world. Its cultural scene, teeming with street musicians and jazz nightclubs.
It’s a different sort of night life and yet, it’s exactly the vibe that the Desi Piano Trio hopes to recreate this Saturday, when it plays at the Hyatt Regency, Chennai.
The musicians are familiar faces. Krishna Kishor, percussionist, hails from a classical lineage, while Naveen Napier’s bass guitar is a force to reckon with. Then, there’s pianist Anil Srinivasan; they put together a set comprising unique arrangements on Indian motifs.
The concept has been a hit right from its conception, and patrons have urged Srinivasan to bring it to a wider audience.
This weekend, though, the trio pulls out its finest Saturday suits: there’s a jazz nightclub in town.
