The trailer of Madhavan-Vijay Sethupathi starrer Vikram Vedha is everything we thought it would be: sleek, action-packed and ruthless. Ever since the first look posters of Vikram Vedha was released we knew that it was between good and evil aka the good cop played by Madhavan and the evil gangster played by Vijay Sethupathi. The film is inspired by the folk tale of Vikramaditya. The main characters are touted to be derived from the tale.

The film is written and directed by Pushkar and Gayathri and produced by Sashikanth. The cast also includes Varalakshmi, Shraddha Srinath and Kathir playing supporting roles. The music is scored by Sam C.S.

The film seems to be bordering on the lines of Thani Oruvan starring Arvind Swami and Jayam Ravi, where the cat and mouse race between the cop and the villain was directed into a slick and sleek feature film. Vikram Vedha on the other hand seems to be more raw and action-packed with a great background score (from what we can tell from the two-minute trailer). "When a man's death is in his own hands, isn't it magnificent," asks Vedha (Sethupathi) and continues,"If the choice is between good and bad, it is easy to take a pick. But in this story, both are bad guys, What would you do?"

“It is fun to work with Madhavan sir. He is very spontaneous. We have released the song Tasakku, Tasakku , which has already caught the imagination of the people,” said Sethupathi in a recent interview to The Hindu.Vikram Vedha , has already created a buzz on social media, thanks to its neo-noir feel.

“Whenever I do a film, I hope to hell that I am doing an interesting one. And, Vikram Vedha is one of the most exciting scripts I have done. It is not a normal cop vs bad guy story. I play an unscrupulous and unsympathetic guy,” said Madhavan in an interview .

Would the  film go on the lines of Steven Spielberg's classic Catch Me If You Can or would it be something like Bogan and Thani Oruvan ? The wait seems to be worth it!
