Waiting for Baahubali

Fans in Tamil Nadu waiting eagerly for the Kattappa question to be answered had to wait for a while longer on Friday as the early morning shows of S.S Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2: The Conclusion were cancelled. Industry sources said this was due to financial issues.

“Tamil Nadu distributor K Productions owes Rs. 15 crore to Arka Mediaworks, the makers of Baahubali 2 . Arka is yet to issue KDM [Key Delivery Message] for the release of Telugu and Tamil versions of the film in the State,” a source said, according to IANS .

What’s Prabhas upto?

The actor’s magnum opus might have just hit the silver screens on Friday, April 28, but Prabhas has already moved on.

The teaser trailer for the Telugu actor’s next film, Saaho , was released on Friday morning, much to the delight of his fans. After living and breathing the character(s) of Baahubali for the last five years, Prabhas sports a very modern look in Saaho . He’s even shorn off his long hair.

Such is the interest in Prabhas’ life after Baahubali that the teaser trailer has notched up a cool two million views already.

Jiiva’s horror comedy

The trailer for actor Jiiva’s next film Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae released earlier this week. The film, which is touted to be a horror-comedy, also stars Sri Dhivya, Soori, Radhika, Radha Ravi and others.

Reminiscent of Rajinikanth blockbuster Chandramukhi , the movie sees its protagonists move into a seemingly haunted bungalow. The film is directed by Atlee and will be released in May 2017.

Lipstick Under My Burkha gets 'A' certificate

The film’s makers can finally heave a sigh of relief.

After the Censor Board declined to certify the critically-acclaimed Lipstick Under My Burkha , it has been directed by the The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) to give the film a ‘A’ rating.

The film — starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Ratna Pathak Shah — chronicles the secret lives of four women of different ages in a small town in India as they search for different kinds of freedom.

The CBFC, in its letter to the film’s producer Prakash Jha, had said that the movie was “lady-oriented”. “The story is lady-oriented, their fantasy about life. There are continuous sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society, hence film refused.”

Jyothika on a roll

Actor Jyothika seems to be having a fantastic comeback. After 36 Vayadhinile , her next, Magalir Mattum , is ready and lined up for release. Meanwhile, she’s also acting in director Bala’s Naachiyar, alongside G.V. Prakash.

Magalir Mattum ’s audio was launched earlier this week and the veteran actor had a few words of wisdoms for producers and directors. Starting with, “Give women some dignity in films” all the way till “Why do heroes need four heroines in a movie”, Jyothika brought the house down with her speech at the audio launch.
