On the eve of the release of Mahanubhavudu , Sharwanand is a picture of confidence. His Sankranti release Satamanam Bhavati which got released amid two biggies, still tasted success. It even fetched the producer a National Award. This time too his film will be competing with another two A league movies and the team hopes for an encore. The film was mostly shot in Hyderabad and some songs were shot in Europe and Pollachi too.

The 32 year-old actor elaborates on the subject of his next film, OCD in Mahanubhavudu .“Funniest part is I am the problem and I am the victim. To win the girl’s love I get into all kinds of situations. There is no message as such in the film. I strongly believe the film will do well. This will be a hit... how big a hit I can’t predict.”

Sharwanand’s last film Radha was disappointing, explaining, “I always wanted to do films in all genres. After that film I realised that people didn’t want me to do what others are doing. I enjoyed the character— it was fresh for me and I thought the audience would enjoy it, but it didn’t work. This Dasara is the most awaited festival for me, I am excited and surely want to know how the audience will react to Mahanubhavudu.

Elaborating on the character sketch in Mahanubhavudu , he says, “It is a different story completely. The character of the hero has been sketched interestingly. Maruti has his own style, he deals with the script differently. Every person connects immediately, you too would feel that you had gone through this before and that makes you feel very normal. Coming to OCD, it isn’t about cleanliness alone; the film deals with some common traits of people. Like some have the habit of repeating what they say, men and women in every household have a quirky quality. There is a love story which has been weaved in a unique way. If I suffer from OCD and I am told about it, I would try and change it. But if my disorder doesn’t trouble anyone, I would leave it like that.”

Amid the talk of the plot being inspired from various movies, Sharwanand defends his director and points out that the film will be a laugh riot. He quips, “His greatness is, even if he is inspired by some point, he makes it into a perfect native fare — that’s his USP.”

Everyone’s timing is important, comedy timing is something I can’t explain. If it is a heroine, you can talk about reciprocation et al but if it is a comedian, it should be magical.

About his combination with Vennela Kishore, he says, “We are working together after a very long time, after Vennela . I think our combination will work very well, it is the highlight of the film. Everyone’s timing is important, comedy timing is something I can’t explain. If it is a heroine, you can talk about reciprocation et al but if it is a comedian, it should be magical. All said and done, it is a love story, there are so many situations in the film that make you laugh.”

This is Sharwanand’s first film with Maruti and he speaks of his experience of aproaching the sets with many apprehensions. “Even after the first day I was sceptical but from the second day I got into the groove and I understood his working style. He does come with a bound script, he elevates it by 40 or 50 percent then and there. He improvises it with the actors so much and the scene becomes magical. I have seen all of Maruti’s films, I thoroughly enjoyed Bhale Bhale Magadivoy and entertainment is his forte. The entire team made a conscious effort to change my look. The banner is known for giving importance to make the characters look different in every film. The hairstylist, cameraman, director, producers... all of them would be there to concur finally on the way I should be presented. Laughing at yourself is the healthiest way to enjoy life and beat any kind of stress. This film was fun and everyday, I would go home smiling.”
