Madhuri, Naseeruddin to attend Lucknow literary fest

Some of India’s top writers, journalists and film stars will take part in the Lucknow Literature Carnival that begins November 28. The three-day literary gala has been conceptualised on the lines of famous annual Jaipur Literature Festival.

This year, the festival is likely to be attended by Bollywood stars including Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Madhuri Dixit, besides writers Pavan Verma, Nayantara Sehgal, Mark Tully and Manjul Bajaj. Other notable people would be Syeda Hameed, Toby Sinclair, Waseem Barelvi, Muzaffar Ali, Mrinal Pandey, Gillian Wright, Rakshanda Jalil and Sathya Saran.

The highlights of the festival would be book launches, panel discussions, workshops and literary readings. The festival would also pay tribute to renowned singer Begum Akhtar on her birth centenary with noted folk singer Malini Awasthi’s rendition, besides the staging of play “Main Tumhe Phir Miloongi: Amrita-Imroz Letters” by Salim Arif and Lubna Salim.
