Lingaa , which is also Superstar Rajinikanth grandson’s name, was a movie title originally registered with director Ameer. The filmmaker, in fact, had the title for many years and kept renewing it – with the intention of making a film with Dhanush!

Unmindful of all this, once Rajini gave the nod to a script after Kochadaiiyaan , he himself suggested the title Lingaa . “We obviously can’t say no to him, once he makes a decision,” revealed director K. S. Ravikumar at the audio launch, “So, I called Ameer and explained this to him.

He just said, ‘I’m a Rajini fan. I’ll sign wherever you want me to.’”

Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya and son-in-law, actor Dhanush, have two children – Yatra and Linga. About how he chose a title for his upcoming film, it is unclear if the superstar was inspired by his grandson, with whom he is said to spend a lot of time.

Lingaa , which is likely to release on December 12, will be Rajini’s live action film after four years. The music, by A. R. Rahman, was released a few days ago.
