I want to produce more children-based films, says Dhanush

'Kaaka Muttai', co-produced by the actor, won a National Award in the Best Children’s Film category.

Accepting the diminishing trend of children’s movies in the entertainment industry, actor-producer Dhanush, whose co-production Tamil drama “Kaaka Muttai” grabbed the National Film Award, says he will focus on producing more children-based films. The film won the honour in the Best Children’s Film category.

“I would focus on producing more children-based films. And this is just the beginning. I hope some good scripts come my way then I can do something about it,” Dhanush said.

Directed by M. Manikandan, “Kaaka Muttai” is the story of two street urchins who set out on a journey to get their first bite of pizza. Dhanush has co-produced the film with filmmaker Vetrimaaran and Fox Star Studios.

Dhanush accepted the award for the film at the 62nd National Film Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan here. Talking about the movie, he said: “I got really curious about the script when it came to me. The story about two boys and their urge to eat pizza captivated my interest”.

Dhanush on lookout for right script in Bollywood

He picked unconventional roles to venture into Hindi filmdom debuting as an obsessive lover in “Raanjhanaa” and a dumb and mute person in his second Bollywood outing “ Shamitabh ”. Now actor Dhanush says he is waiting for the right script to come his way.

“I’m waiting for the next script. So, let’s see when the right script comes,” Dhanush told IANS .

The actor was in New Delhi to receive the National Film award for his co-production “ Kaaka Muttai ”. The Tamil drama, which narrates the tale of two children and their journey to get their first bite of pizza, won the award in the Best Children’s Film category.

The son-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth noted that he looks to satiate his curiosity level while picking his next project.

“I will take up a project which suits me and gets me curious about the character”, he said.
