It has been a happy homecoming for Harshad Arora and Vani Sood, who are giving viewers a glimpse of their histrionics in the ongoing fantasy drama Mayavi Maling on Star Bharat. The duo, taking a break in Delhi to unwind from their hectic schedule, explained how their new show is offering viewers a refreshing content.
Talking about Mayavi Maling , both the actors were unanimous in their contention that the show being a fantasy drama involves a lot of supernatural activities. “The set up of the show too is something very new in comparison to what is currently on air on Indian television ,” says Vani. Expressing happiness that their new show goes beyond the daily saas-bahu routine, Harshad says that the industry is growing at such a level that everyday the audience needs something new and this is their way of giving something new and attractive to the viewers.
Shedding light on her character, Vani says: “The very idea of fighting with swords and portraying a princess really appealed to me a lot.” On the other hand, Harshad says: “My character, Angad, is a very unpredictable; he is different in every scene.”
Both the actors like to experiment with new things which is the reason why Harshad has been away from television for such a long time. Reacting to this assessment, he says: “I have been very choosy about the roles I pick because for me experimenting is really important. I don’t want to stereotype myself with the same genre.” And in case of Vani, she wanted to do something really different and exclusive for her debut on television.
, While talking about her appearance in the acclaimed movie Mom alongside the late Sridevi, Vani says: “Sridevi had a different aura on the sets. Whenever she came on the sets, everyone went quiet and it used to be evident that Sridevi ma’am is here.”
Talking about their home town, both had the same things to relish and miss about the city. The actors says that they miss the street food that one gets in the city. Delhi, they say, has a certain versatility which Mumbai lacks. Street food and home is what they miss about Delhi.
