Shakti Shetty is 17 and has already bagged quite a few films as the leading lady. The youngster started off as a child artiste in Dil Ka Raja . She played the role of a handicapped child in the film that had Prajwal Devaraj and Ramya in the lead.

The youngster reveals that her journey in films began when she auditioned for a children’s movie.

“I was thrilled when I was chosen to act in that film. After that offers slowly started trickling in,” chuckles the actor, who adds that her entry into the world of films was easy, as “my parents have quite a few friends in the industry.”

From being a child artiste to a leading lady, Shakti says she is “waiting with baited breath for the reaction from the audience.” The shooting is “almost complete” for both her films — Sri Samanya and Vernamaya .

Sri Samanya is produced by her home banner, Shakti Cine Creations. “My mother, Bharati, is producing the film. The film is about creating awareness about the pollution and plastic in our surroundings and its hazards,” reveals Shakti, who adds that her father will be seen in a negative role in the film directed by Gunvantha Manju.

Varnamaya is “a thriller. The suspense film is directed by Ravindra Venshi. I play a psychiatry student.” How does it feel playing such mature roles at such a young age? “It has nothing to do with the age, but talent. I find it challenging to try out new characters and am open to doing any kind of roles to explore myself. I may get bored if I just keep playing the good, soft-spoken heroine in every film,” states Shakti, who plans to continue with her education. Having just finished her class 10 examination, she dreams of balancing a career between being an architect and an actor.

“Acting is my passion and I want to continue it,” says Shakti who is an avid dancer, drummer and guitarist.
