Director Suresh Krissna, known for helming films like Baasha and Baba , has completed work on a movie titled Hitler: Yengirintho Vanthaan … which will be released directly on television.

Starring Delhi Ganesh, Devyani, Bharat Kalyan and two newcomers (Arjun and Pavithra), the film — a family drama that is two hours-15-minute long — will be released on Zee Tamil on May 29.

“The basic idea is to open a new path for many talented directors and actors to make movies,” he says, “Theatre cinema cannot accommodate and give opportunity to all… this initiative will open new avenues for talent in the film industry.”

The film was shot in nine days in various locations across Chennai. It will also feature two songs. “I wish this becomes like the IPL, where both new and proven talents get an opportunity,” adds Suresh.

The concept was born when the filmmaker was mulling about the current status of proven talent in the industry. “All this hype about newcomers doesn’t mean that proven talent doesn’t work anymore. The sad part is that a lot of established actors, directors, writers and singers do not have work anymore because the fad is to go behind new faces,” he explains.

He hopes that this initiative will pave the way for the senior members in the industry. “I mooted the idea to the Zee Tamil team and explained that I could make a film exclusively for them with the same money they would use to buy satellite rights,” he says.

Once he got the approval, there were other challenges to face. “I had to push myself and take stock of budgets every day,” he says, “It was a film completed in 9 days, but when you watch it, you won’t realize that.”

The film is scheduled to be screened on May 29 (3.30 pm) on Zee Tamil.
