BJP releases vision document for Uttarakhand

February 05, 2017 01:26 am | Updated 01:26 am IST - Dehradun:

Promising incentives for ex-servicemen and improvement in healthcare services and education in Uttarakhand, the BJP on Saturday released its vision document here ahead of the Assembly elections. The document mentioned the contentious issue of Gairsain, saying the party would “think over developing it as the State’s summer capital” if voted to power. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was present. Attacking the Congress regime over mismanaged tourism, low employment opportunities and corruption, the document promised improvement in these sectors. Using the Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas slogan with an eye on the Muslim vote, the document mentioned that the community, making up a majority of the families living below the poverty line, could rely on the party for its uplift. Over the contentious hydropower generation issue, the party would give priority to run-of-the-river projects. The study of, and research in, Sanskrit, Vastu Shastra and Astrology would be encouraged in the State, the document stated. The party would promote yoga and ayurveda also.
