A day after the BJP put the former Congress “rebel” MLAs on its first list of candidates for the Uttarakhand Assembly elections, social media was full of jokes at the expense of the party on Tuesday. Some called the Bharatiya Janata Party the Baagi Janata Party, or a party of turncoats. A few others said there were now two versions of the Congress — the Sonia Congress and the Modi Congress — and the BJP became non-existent in the State after it nominated 13 “turncoats”. A WhatsApp message read that while the BJP wanted a Congress-Mukt Bharat (Congress-free India), the party had become Congress-Yukt (fitted with Congress leaders) in Uttarakhand.
