State BJP president Tamilisai Soundarrajan, on Sunday, said there had been no official talk with the DMDK on forming an alliance.

The DMDK’s decision to go it alone has shocked the DMK-Congress alliance. It has no way affected the morale of BJP cadres. We are not holding official talks with the DMDK after that,” she told The Hindu .

She was here to interview candidates aspiring to secure a BJP ticket to contest in the Assembly election.

According to her, no backroom talks were on with the actor-turned-politician and no emissary of the BJP has met the DMDK leader after Mr Vijayakant’s announcement on Thursday last.

Asked whether the DMDK was still part of the NDA in Tamil Nadu, she said that the door was still open for the alliance. If that happened it would be good for the State and the people.

However, she made it clear that the BJP was prepared to contest the State Assembly elections alone. More than 3,000 aspirants had sought party tickets.
