Modi leading by about 25,000 votes in Varanasi

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has established a handsome lead of nearly 25,000 votes against his nearest rival Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party.

According to trends available by 11 a.m., Mr. Modi had polled 38,360 votes as against Mr. Kejriwal’s 13,415.

Ajay Rai of the Congress was a distant third with 5,736 votes polled in his favour followed by Vijay Prakash Jaiswal of the BSP (4057).

Kailash Chaurasia of the Samajwadi Party, which is in power in Uttar Pradesh, got only 2846 votes.
