Kejriwal trains his guns on Sukhbir Badal

January 20, 2017 01:55 am | Updated 02:23 am IST - CHANDIGARH:

Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday asked people to defeat Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal from Jalalabad, his home turf, and make him lose his deposit.

On a visit to the constituency, Mr. Kejriwal said the people of Jalalabad would be remembered for ‘rising against corruption and misrule’ by defeating Mr. Sukhbir.

“Capt. Amarinder and Mr. Badal have been contesting elections collectively for long but with the emergence of the AAP in Punjab, they have been exposed,” he said, adding that the AAP has fielded one of its strongest candidates, Bhagwant Mann, against Mr. Sukhbir.

“Their plan to divide anti-incumbency votes will be foiled and Punjabis will choose the AAP over these corrupt parties,” he added.

Mr. Kejriwal criticised the Badal government for ignoring the youth of Punjab and taking no steps to generate employment in the State. He said the AAP government would provide jobs to 25 lakh youths in the State.

Post-poll promises

“Agro-based industries will be set up in the rural areas and there will be 80% quota of Punjab residents in these jobs,” he said.

“I promise to waive the debt of farmers and make farming more remunerative,” he said.
