AINRC scores a thumping win in Puducherry

The ruling AINRC has dashed Congress hopes of a silver lining in the gloomy national scenario with its candidate R. Radhakrishnan defeating his Congress rival V. Narayanasamy by a huge margin of 60,854 votes to pocket the Puducherry Parliamentary seat.

As counting ended, Mr. Radhakrishnan had polled 2,55,826 votes against Mr. Narayanasamy's tally of 1,94,972 votes. AIADMK candidate M.V. Omalingam bagged an impressive 1.32,657 votes.

Though the official declaration is expected a short while from now, the cadres of AINRC which is led by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy are already in celebration mode.
