Nine people were on Wednesday injured in a clash between ruling National Conference and opposition PDP workers in Ganderbal district of Kashmir, police said.

National Conference workers clashed with PDP activists at Lar in Ganderbal, resulting in injuries to nine persons, the police said.

The trouble started when a group of NC supporters pelted stones at the residence of former PDP MLA from Ganderbal Qazi Mohammad Afzal. His supporters came out and retaliated by pelting stones at them.

Police used batons to chase away both the groups.

Earlier in the day, a policeman was injured in the district when some anti-social elements pelted stones at them soon after an election rally addressed by National Conference President Farooq Abdullah.
