JD(U) slams Modi’s anti-EC tirade

May 06, 2014 01:24 am | Updated 01:24 am IST - Patna:

Janata Dal(United) president Sharad Yadav on Monday criticised the BJP leader Narendra Modi for questioning the Election Commission and said such posturing reflected his sense of defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

Jameen par aa gaye [now he has come on ground],” Mr. Yadav said while referring to Mr. Modi’s allegation that the EC had failed to check “rigging and violence” in West Bengal, Bihar and western Uttar Pradesh.

“When people get the sense of defeat, they start talking about irregularities.”

On RJD president Lalu Prasad entering into a verbal duel with officials over checking of the vehicle of his wife Rabri Devi, he said it was another example of showing disrespect to the EC.

“Even my vehicles were checked and two cases of poll code violation filed against me, but I never pointed the finger at EC,” Mr. Yadav said.
