BJP candidate from Nawada Lok Sabha constituency Giriraj Singh on Wednesday said he would surrender before the court on Thursday amidst the hunt for him by the Jharkhand and Bihar police to execute the arrest warrants.
The warrants were issued against him stating at an election rally that those opposing Narendra Modi belonged to Pakistan.
Mr. Singh did not specify whether he would surrender in Bihar or Jharkhand. The two states together have filed three cases at the directive of the Election Commission which has debarred him from campaigning and making public speeches.
The Jharkhand police have requested the cooperation of the Bihar police in connection with the FIRs lodged against Mr. Singh in Deogarh and Bokaro. The Patna police have also lodged a case against him for his speech here on April 20. Meanwhile, RJD chief Lalu Prasad said the statements of Mr. Singh and VHP leader Praveen Togadia only reflected their “ugly faces.” If voted to power, the Congress-RJD-NCP would ban the RSS and BJP.
