Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people of Kerala to support Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for securing the future of the State.

Mr. Modi, who addressed an election campaign meeting of the party at Thripunithura here Wednesday evening, however, avoided any references to his earlier controversial comparison of the State to the impoverished Somalia.

The future of the State is in the hands of the people and on polling date, vote for lotus symbol and the development of the State, he said.

The Prime Minster wanted the people not to vote for an alliance or making anyone a legislator but to vote for redrawing the course of growth of the State.

No difference

He accused the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) of supporting each other while in power. Both the political fronts were playacting and were projecting themselves as two different political combinations. The two political fronts were fooling the State and its people by making them believe that they were two different entities. In reality, they were all the same.

It should be noted that neither the UDF nor the LDF had ever pursued any corruption cases against the other. They were looting the State every alternate terms, he said.

Taking a dig at the Congress in the Centre and the State, Mr. Modi said the Congress had become synonymous with corruption. While the Congress in Delhi was engaged in corruption in coal, the party was neck deep in corruption related to solar power in Kerala, he said.

Call to govt. employees

The Prime Minister wanted government employees of the State to support the BJP in the election.

“The BJP government would restore their lost pride and work for their welfare. The UDF and the LDF governments have been sidelining a section of the government employees when in power,” the Prime Minister said.
