With fear of poaching by the BJP, the Congress on Friday brought its Karnataka MLAs to Hyderabad.
Sources said they were being accommodated in five-star hotel Taj Krishna. Police sources said 120 rooms were reserved in the hotel. So far, 74 MLAs have arrived at the hotel. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president also arrived at Taj Krishna.
A senior Congress leader confirmed that some of them had reached the city while some were on their way from Bangalore, which is an eight-hour drive from Hyderabad.
The MLAs are likely to be divided into two or three groups and shifted to some resort outside the city.
Local leaders kept in the dark
Local Congress leaders said even they were kept in the dark about the movements and they learnt about it only this morning as they were preparing for protests against the BJP as per a call given by the national leadership.
Security arrangements were beefed up at Park Hyatt and there was a buzz of activity indicating that MLAs were arriving at the hotel.
Police sources confirmed that one batch of MLAs had reached Taj Krishna.
Both the hotels have high security within their premises and access to outsiders is almost impossible.
