The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday came out with its second list of candidates with 82 names for the Assembly polls, which included some politically controversial ones such as former Ministers Katta Subramanya Naidu, S.N. Krishnaiah Setty, H. Halappa, and M.P. Renukacharya.
While the corruption charges against Mr. Naidu and the rape allegation against Mr. Halappa have been struck down by the courts, the corruption case against Mr. Setty is still pending. Mr. Renukacharya had landed in a controversy when his photographs with a woman had surfaced in the media.
The list was released a day after the party’s central election committee meeting in New Delhi.
The party had released its first list of 72 candidates on April 8, and with the Monday’s exercise, the party has released a total of 154 seats for elections to the 224-seat Assembly.
