The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released the third list of 28 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections, taking the number of seats for which candidates have been declared to 134 out the total 182.

The former Minister Saurabh Patel and the former State BJP chief R.C. Faldu are the prominent names on the list.

Ministers Sunil Vagashiya, Jayantibhai Kavadia and Nanu Vanani have been dropped. So are the former Ministers Vasuben Trivedi and Narottam Patel.

Thirty-two Patidars have been given ticket so far. Mr. Saurabh Patel, whose future appeared uncertain after he was not included in the Vijay Rupani Ministry that assumed charge last year, has been fielded from Botad. He represents Akota in the outgoing Assembly.

Mr. Faldu will contest from Jamnagar (South), in place of Mr. Trivedi, who is the sitting MLA.
