Sushma’s marathon show exposes bad management

January 29, 2015 09:21 am | Updated 09:21 am IST

Union Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday addressed public meetings at three Assembly constituencies to garner support for the BJP candidates. The BJP leader moved from one gathering to another in what seemed to be a neatly-managed busy schedule.

However, efforts to track Ms. Swaraj revealed the mismanagement of what is called the campaign managers. On Wednesday morning, the BJP office forwarded a list saying nothing more than that Ms. Swaraj would be addressing public at Sangam Vihar at  5 p.m., Deoli at 6 p.m., Ambedkar Nagar at 7 p.m., and ending at Mehrauli at 8 p.m. The schedule was subsequently reworked.

However, the PR personnel or the campaign managers or even the candidates of the respective constituencies were not aware of the exact location where the public address was to be delivered by their leader.

Numerous phone calls went unattended. Almost all the phone numbers provided by the media department of the State unit were not reachable or out of coverage area. What is surprising is that the public address said to be at Mehrauli and informed by a campaign manager to be near Qutub Minar turned out to be at Katwaria Sarai.

The BJP worker who was directing people to the so-called public meeting at Mehrauli later said, “How am I supposed to know the location? I am myself not a BJP leader or a member. I have been at Bijwasan since morning.” By then, Ms. Swaraj had concluded her address at Katwaria Sarai.
