In his response to an Election Commission notice served on him following Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay’s complaint, Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal has written that Mr. Upadhyay was making a vain attempt to save face.

Mr. Kejriwal had accused that Mr. Upadhyay and Delhi BJP general secretary Ashish Sood were part of a company that supplied faulty electricity meters to power discoms in Delhi.

Calling the allegations baseless and unverified, the BJP leader had knocked at the doors of the Election Commission.

Defending himself, Mr. Kejriwal referred to documents and media reports to back his claims.

“It is respectfully submitted that the allegations levelled against me in the complaint are malafide and motivated. It is apparently a counter blast by the complainant and or his party to distract the people by diverting attention,” his reply says.

Mr. Kejriwal has written that the information disseminated during the press conference was based on cogent and reliable material available in public domain and ground perception among the local public at large. He submitted documents downloaded from government and discom websites to establish that Mr. Upadhyay was indeed a director in these companies.

Meanwhile, the EC on Friday censured Mr. Kejriwal for accusing the BJP of inciting communal violence.
