Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio address Mann Ki Baat , Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi said on Thursday that she too will interact with Delhiites through FM every month if she is elected Chief Minister.

Mr. Modi has been going on-air once a month since October to address the nation and takes questions on topics that are pre-determined, like drug abuse and the use of khadi.

“If I become the Chief Minister, I will interact with the people of Delhi every month through FM. I will listen to their problems and give them solutions. This is a very good platform to keep in touch,” Ms. Bedi said, while addressing a meeting of BJP workers in East Delhi.

Urging them to campaign for the party by citing the importance of Delhi at the national and international level, she added: “People have changed the face of India by appointing Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister. Now it is Delhi’s turn. Anything wrong that happens in Delhi becomes big news and gives a bad name to the country internationally. Let us all try and make Delhi a place where nothing wrong happens. A place that is only talked about positively.”

Ms. Bedi spoke about women’s security being her main agenda.

“Women’s safety is definitely going to be my top-most agenda for Delhi. I have a lot of experience in working for women’s issues in the past and I am going to use all that experience if I become the Chief Minister,” she said.

“I will also give the people a monthly account of the steps taken by me for improving women’s security here.”

She targeted former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for saying that prevention of crime in the city was not under her control.

“The former Delhi Chief Minister always used to say that she cannot do anything about crime in the city as she does not have the authority. I was Special Secretary to former Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna. I have seen Mr. Khanna working in co-ordination with the then Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma. If the L-G Office and the Chief Minister’s Office have an alignment, they can easily work for the public,” she added.

Ms. Bedi also spoke about rooting out corruption from government departments.
