With just two weeks for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) to be held on May 6, medical aspirants fresh from their board exam preparation stand to gain from the timeline gap ranging from nearly 20 days to one month. They can build on their board exam preparation and look ahead to meet NEET with confidence, work on their strengths and improve on areas where they lag behind.

Planning

Students need to move from concept-based learning to a form of learning which will maximise their performance. They should ensure that they have sufficient breaks between study sessions so that the mind does not get fatigued. The study sessions should include a good mix of theory, problem-solving and revising all questions that appeared in the previous years. The problem-solving study sessions will help the student sustain the NEET preparation, especially in Physics and Chemistry.

On the day prior to the exam, the student should make sure that the mind is stress-free. Popular stress busters like listening to music, watching one’s favourite TV channel will have a calming influence. Students will do well to shift the focus towards strengthening the strong areas to maximise the scoring potential. They should spend time on identifying the list of topics where they have maximum potential to score. They should develop a temperament to play to their strengths and maximise their score. A revision of Class XI syllabus will prove handy as well.

Execution

Unit tests should be taken on a daily basis, to identify sub-topics where there is a scope for improvement. On a weekly basis, take the NEET-simulated mock tests to formulate test-taking strategies and improve time management. After revising the Class XI syllabus, focus on Class XII syllabus. During the last one week prior to the exam, take mock tests on a daily basis in order to finetune the test taking strategies and to get into the groove. A day prior to the exam, do a review of the key concepts and formulae, ensure the mind stays calm and relaxed.

Having left no stone unturned in terms of meticulous planning and disciplined execution of the plan, you are set to ace the NEET exam. Good luck!
