How Machines Learn

When you are shopping on an e-commerce site, it already seems to know what you want, or even suggest things you may like. Google seems to suggest your searches and shows you products related to your interests. Your bank too knows when you swipe your card for an unusual amount or when you are out of the country. How do they know? It all boils down to one simple concept — the algorithm.

CGP Grey in his YouTube channel of the same name explains in the video titled “How Machines Learn”. How do all the algorithms around us learn to do their jobs? It’s more complicated than the simple line instructions like “If this, then that” that humans feed computers. Complex problems require complex instructions.
