Mass Effect: Andromeda

Genre: Action role-playing video game

Publisher: Electronic Arts

If you are a fan of sci-fi and space-based games, Mass Effect: Andromeda will definitely pique your interest. Published for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows, this is the fourth instalment of the Mass Effect series. The gameplay involves the player taking the identity of either Scott or Sara Ryder, an inexperienced military recruit. The game is set in the 22nd century where humans are planning to populate new home worlds in the Andromeda Galaxy.

Torment: Tides of Numenera

Genre: Role-playing video game

Publisher: Techland

Developed by inXile Entertainment, this game is the “spiritual successor” to the 1999 game, Planescape: Torment. Set in a fantasy campaign setting, it is primarily story-driven, with emphasis on the player’s interaction with the world and characters. An interesting fact is that it was crowd-funded through a Kickstarter campaign in the year 2013 and it successfully achieved its target within six hours. You might have to do a lot of background reading before playing this game, but it might be worth it!

Styx: Shards of Darkness

Genre: Stealth video game

Publisher: Focus Home Interactive

If infiltration is your forte and stealth your middle name, this game is just for you. This is the third game in the Of Orcs and Men series. Featuring more detailed levels, better controls and stunning graphics, the game’s missions are mainly set around the dark elven city of Korangar. Players require stealth more than combat skills, making distraction, deception and staying out of sight, essential for survival.
