Kalpit Veerval, a student of MDS Senior Secondary School, Udaipur, has topped the IIT-JEE main examination of 2017 with a perfect 100%, or 360 marks, clinching the All India Rank 1. The results were announced on Thursday. He is the first student to score full marks in the JEE main exam. He has topped in the general as well as the Scheduled Caste category.
Kalpit's father Pushkar Lal Veerwal is a compounder at Udaipur’s Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital and his mother Pushpa is a government school teacher. His elder brother is a student in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur.
The 17-year-old is considered a bright student at both his school and coaching institute.
He topped the Indian Junior Science Olympiad while studying in Class 9 and cracked the National Talent Search Examination with the top position in the 10th grade.
Kalpit said he would now focus on the JEE advanced exam to be held next month.
