NIRD entrance test
The National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad, has invited applications for the entrance test to be held on January 24, 2010 across the country for admission to the postgraduate diploma programme in rural development management (PGDRM) for the year 2010-11.
It is a one-year, fully residential course having a total of 60 seats. Graduates in any discipline and those who are in the final year of the degree course and expected to complete graduation before August 1, 2010, are eligible to apply. The application form can be downloaded from the website www.nird.org.in. Completed application forms along with a demand draft for Rs.1,200 drawn in favour of NIRD, Hyderabad, and copies of relevant certificates should be sent to the Coordinator, Centre for Postgraduate Studies, National Institute of Rural Development, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500030, so as to reach the addressee on or before December 18, 2009.
Cartoon contest
The British Council in association with Ken Sprague Fund, U.K., is organising a cartoon contest on climate change.
It is open to those in the age group of 18-35 years. The themes include: drought and water shortage, deforestation and rain forest destruction, melting of the ice caps, role of industry in polluting the atmosphere, devastation of the seas and disappearance of marine life, and climate change in an urban environment.
The award winning entries and the ones that are short-listed will be exhibited in various places in India. Last date for receiving entries is November 30. For details, visit www.britishcouncil.org.in/LCF.
