E-Learning to aid quality education

The IIT Madras Director, M.S. Ananth, said that e-Learning has potential to address the growing quality education need of India and Industry participation in managing the education would definitely help to create future challenges of scaling up education in India.

He was speaking at the national seminar on “e-Learning and e-Learning Technologies” - ELELTECH 2009, jointly organised by C-DAC and JNTU Hyderabad along with Department of Information Technology.

He also pointed out that unlike other countries, the thirst for knowledge is prevailing in India and we only need to provide quality content and involvement from all sectors like government, industry and teachers.

In this regard, there is a need for setting up a virtual laboratory to cater the needs of future requirements.

N. Ravi Shankar, Joint Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Government of India emphasized the need to electrify education with e-Learning.
