PG diploma

The National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad, has invited applications for the entrance test to be held on January 24, 2010 across the country for admission to the postgraduate diploma programme in rural development management (PGDRM) for the year 2010-11. It is a one-year, fully residential course having a total of 60 seats. Indian students have to pay a fee of Rs.1.4 lakh.

Graduates in any discipline and those who are in the final year of the degree course and expected to complete graduation before August 1, 2010, are eligible to apply.

The application form and prospectus can be downloaded from the website www.nird.org.in. Filled-in application forms along with a demand draft for Rs.1,200 drawn in favour of NIRD, Hyderabad, and copies of relevant certificates should be sent to the Coordinator, Centre for Postgraduate Studies, National Institute of Rural Development, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500030, so as to reach the addressee on or before December 18, 2009. LL.M. entrance exam

The Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Kerala, has invited applications for admission to the LL.M. course 2009-10 in the Government Law Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode.

* Government Law College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram –15 seats (international law, Constitutional law).

* Government Law College, Ernakulam – 15 seats (mercantile law, criminal law) plus one additional seat for visually-challenged candidate.

* Government Law College, Thrissur — 10 seats (administrative law, criminal law).

* Government Law College, Kozhikode —15 seats (law of taxation).

Application forms can be downloaded from www.cee-kerala.org.The applications with all documents should be forwarded to the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Housing Board Building, 5th Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram-695001, either by registered post or delivered by hand and reach the addressee on or before November 13.

The entrance examination will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram on November 29.

Cartoon contest

The British Council in association with Ken Sprague Fund, U.K., is organising a cartoon contest on climate change.

It is open to those in the age group of 18-35 years.

The themes include: drought and water shortage, deforestation and rain forest destruction, melting of the ice caps, role of industry in polluting the atmosphere, devastation of the seas and disappearance of marine life, and climate change in an urban environment.

The award winning entries and the ones that are short-listed will be exhibited in various places in India. Last date for receiving entries is November 30.
