UAS admissions
The practical test for students seeking admission to undergraduate degree programmes of University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bangalore, under the agriculturists quota will be held on July 11 and 12 at Kuvempu Sabhangana, South Block, UAS, GKVK.
Candidates who have secured 50 per cent and above should appear for the test on July 11 and those between 35 and 49.99 per cent on July 12. The counselling will be held on July 29 and 30.
The counselling-cum-admission for all undergraduate degree programmes will be held between July 20 and 25. Special quota (applicants belonging to sports, NCC, scouts and guides, physically disabled, defence, ex-servicemen and Anglo-Indian) and general merit applicants scoring more than 70 per cent marks will have to attend the counselling session on June 20, those with a percentage between 60 and 69.99 on July 21, between 54 and 59.99 per cent (July 22), 48 to 53.99 per cent (July 23), 42 to 47.99 per cent (July 24), 35 to 41.99 (July 25).

The T. John Group of Institutions has joined hands with IBM to provide specialised IT courses for students and working professionals.
The part-time courses are aimed at engineering graduates, who are pursuing their final year of graduation, MCAs/BCAs, computer science graduates and working professionals.
Software testing, Application development and Database administration are some of the courses on offer. The educational models are based on real world and on-demand business models that give students a deep understanding of the software development process.

Endeavour Executive Award-2009
Ashok Hanjagi, Reader, Department of Geography and Geo-informatics, Bangalore University, has received the Endeavour Executive Award-2009 instituted by the Australian Government’s Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
He was chosen in recognition of his contribution to teaching and research activities and also for his role in corporate life. The award encourages him to deepen professional engagements, strengthen mutual understanding between the people of the two countries and build linkages and networks between the two countries.
Launched
Symbiosis Institute of Media Communications (SIMC) has established its Bangalore centre at the Electronics City. The formal launchwas graced by former Chief Election Commissioner T.N. Seshan.
Chancellor of Symbiosis University S.B. Majumdar requested Mr. Seshan to become the Mentor and Professor Emeritus of the Bangalore campus of Symbiosis. Mr. Seshan accepted the offer, said a press statement.
Director of SIMC Ujjwal K. Choudhary said that the institute has been rated highly among media schools in surveys carried out by leading media organisations.
