Agri-business as a career

DEEPA KURUP

Harvard Business School (HBS) is offering “Agribusiness Seminar: An Asian Offering” executive education programme in India. To be held in Mumbai in May, it will bring together a diverse set of agribusiness executives from across the globe.

Agribusiness Seminar will present case studies that engage participants in discussion on some of the most pressing topics in the industry including the outlook for global supply and demand, food safety, technology and innovation.

Participants will discuss the future of the agribusiness industry at a time when the global economic climate and access to capital has had an effect on the sector.

“The economic downturn has changed the landscape for the industry in the short term, but many opportunities still exist for companies that are thinking strategically and proactively,” said Mary Shelman, Director of the Agribusiness Programme.

“The programme will help participants consider the long-term future of the industry and how to position their organisation to be ready when market conditions improve.”

The programme will present cases on some of the most-recognised names in agribusiness including Monsanto, Olam International, Nestlé, COFCO Tunhe, and Hariyali Kisaan Bazaar.

Participants come from around the world and bring a diverse set of viewpoints that enhance the classroom experience.

“India holds an important position in the global agricultural market place, and is the perfect place to host this year’s Agribusiness Seminar,” said David Yoffie, Senior Associate Dean and Chair of Harvard Business School Executive Education programmes.
